Why edit metadata in your browser?
Documents that need their properties fixed are often about to be published or sent to a client. Editing locally means the file is never uploaded to do it.
Sharing it outside your organisation?
Properties can reveal more than you mean to, such as a colleague's name as author or the software you use. Remove metadata strips all of it, and Redact PDF removes sensitive text from the pages themselves.

Why does my PDF show the wrong title?+
Reader windows, browser tabs and search results show the title stored in the PDF, not the file name. Documents exported from Word or a design tool often carry an old title, a template name or none at all. Set the title here, and tick "Show the title instead of the file name" so readers display it.
I changed the title elsewhere but Acrobat still shows the old one. Why?+
PDFs can store their properties twice: in the document information dictionary and in an XMP metadata block. Acrobat and many search engines read XMP first, and most editors only change the first copy. This tool rewrites both so they agree.
Does metadata help a PDF rank in search?+
Search engines use the PDF title as the result headline when it is set, and the subject can feed the description. A clear, specific title is the most useful single change for a PDF you publish on the web.
What is the language setting for?+
It tells screen readers which language to read the document in, and it is required for accessible PDFs (PDF/UA). Use a tag such as en, en-GB, hi-IN or fr.
Can I remove metadata instead?+
Clear any field and it is removed. To strip everything, including hidden data, scripts and embedded files, use Remove Metadata.
Will editing change the content of my PDF?+
No. Only the document properties are rewritten; pages, fonts, images, links, bookmarks and form fields stay as they were.
Does it work on password-protected PDFs?+
PDFs that only restrict editing usually open fine. If a PDF needs a password to open, unlock it first.
Is my PDF uploaded?+
No. The PDF is read and saved in your browser, so it never leaves your device.
