PDFMergely is built on a simple promise: your files never leave your device. This policy explains what that means in practice and the small amount of non-personal information we do collect to keep the site running.
Your files are never uploaded
Every tool on PDFMergely runs entirely inside your web browser. When you open, merge, split, compress, sign, scan or otherwise process a PDF, the work happens on your own device using code that we send to your browser. Your documents are never transmitted to us, never stored on our servers, never logged, and never seen by anyone, including us. There is no upload endpoint to trust, because there is no upload.
Because your files are processed locally, we cannot access, recover or restore them. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
No account, no sign-up
You can use the core tools without creating an account, giving us an email address, or providing any personal information.
Analytics we use
To understand which tools are useful and how the site performs, we use two analytics services. Neither ever receives the contents of your files.
Vercel Web Analytics is privacy-friendly and cookieless: it does not set cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not follow you across other websites. It records aggregate, non-identifying information such as page views, approximate country, referring site, and the type of device or browser.
Google Analytics gives us more detailed usage trends. It is loaded only after you accept analytics in the consent banner. We run it with Google Consent Mode set to deny by default, and we keep advertising and personalization signals turned off, so Google does not use this data for advertising. Google Analytics processes information such as page views, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and a randomly generated identifier. Cookies
By default we set no cookies. If you accept analytics in the consent banner, Google Analytics stores a small number of cookies (for example _ga) on your device to measure usage. If you decline, or until you choose, no analytics cookies are set. You can clear these cookies at any time in your browser, or decline to reset your choice. Separately, your browser may use local storage on your own device to make the tools work (for example, to remember an in-progress task or your consent choice); that data stays on your device.
Technical logs
Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) processes basic technical request data such as your IP address and browser user-agent in order to deliver the pages to you. This is a standard part of serving any site, is transient, and is not used to identify you or build a profile. It never includes the contents of your files, because your files are never sent to the server.
No ads, no selling your data
Apart from the analytics described above, we do not embed advertising networks, social media trackers, or data brokers, and we never sell your data. The site is locked down so that your file data has no path to leave your browser: even the analytics requests cannot carry file contents, because your files are processed in an isolated worker that has no network access.
Children
PDFMergely is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights over your personal data. Because we do not collect personal information that identifies you, and we never receive your files, there is very little personal data for us to hold, access or delete. We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
