Save the plain-text file, ready for editors, scripts or search.

Why extract PDF text privately?

The text inside your PDFs is often the most sensitive part: contracts, reports, statements, research. Extracting it locally means you can feed clean plain text to editors, scripts, search tools or AI assistants without first handing the whole document to a conversion server. The extraction reuses the same reading-order reconstruction as our PDF to Word converter, so paragraphs come out in the order you would actually read them.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?+

No. The text is extracted by your browser using its own PDF engine, so the document never leaves your device.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?+

Scans have no text layer, so there is nothing to extract directly. Run the scan through OCR PDF first to add a searchable text layer, or use PDF to Word, which can read scans while converting.

Is the layout preserved?+

The output is plain text in reading order, with a blank line between paragraphs. Columns, tables and formatting are flattened, which is exactly what most editors, scripts and AI tools want.

What encoding is the .txt file?+

UTF-8, so accents, symbols and non-Latin scripts survive intact.

Is it free?+

Yes, completely free with no sign-up and no watermark.
