ITF-14 is the case code: the chunky barcode printed on a shipping carton so a whole box can be scanned without opening it. It encodes fourteen digits, usually your product number with an indicator digit in front, and it is drawn with thick bars because it has to survive printing straight onto corrugated board. Paste your numbers here and each is validated before it is drawn.

ITF-14 starts at a wider module than the retail symbologies. Increase it further if it is printing directly onto brown cardboard.

Why the quiet zone is not optional
Most failed carton scans are not bad bars, they are a barcode printed too close to the edge of the label. The quiet zone is set generously here by default, and you can widen it further for rough board.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the EAN on the product?+
The product carries EAN-13 or UPC-A. The carton carries ITF-14, which is the same product number with an indicator digit for how many are in the box. Warehouses scan the carton, shops scan the item.
Why are the bars so thick?+
Because carton printing is coarse. Thick bars and a large quiet zone survive ink spread on cardboard, which is exactly what defeats a retail-size barcode.
Does it draw the bearer bars?+
The barcode and its quiet zone are drawn to the standard proportions. If your carton specification requires bearer bars around it, add them in your artwork.
