Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?+
No. The content is written into the code itself (a static QR code), so there is no redirect service in between that can be switched off, charge a subscription, or track who scans it. The trade-off is that you cannot change where it points after printing: make a new code instead.
How does the Wi-Fi QR code work?+
It holds the network name, security type and password in the standard format that the camera apps on iPhone and Android read. Scanning it offers to join the network, so guests never type the password. Special characters in the name or password are escaped correctly.
Can I add my logo?+
Yes. The logo sits in the centre on a clear pad, and error correction is set to H, the highest level, which lets a scanner rebuild the modules the logo covers. Logo size is capped at the point where codes still read reliably, and the scan check confirms it.
What does "checked to scan" mean?+
After every change, the finished code (colours and logo included) is decoded the way a phone camera would, and compared with what you typed. If it does not read back exactly, you are told why before you download.
Why are some colours not allowed?+
Scanners need the code clearly darker than its background. Light codes on dark backgrounds, and low-contrast pairs such as pale grey on white, fail on many phones, so they are blocked with an explanation rather than exported.
Which format should I download?+
SVG or PDF for print: they are vector, so they stay sharp at any size. PNG for websites, slides and messages; 1024 px is plenty for most uses. For print, keep the code at least 2 cm wide, and larger if it will be scanned from further away.
What is error correction?+
Extra data that lets a scanner read a code that is scratched, dirty or partly covered. L recovers about 7% damage and makes the smallest code; H recovers about 30% and makes the largest. M suits most uses; a logo needs H.
Is anything uploaded?+
No. The code is generated in your browser, so your Wi-Fi password, contact details and links stay on your device.
