Make a QR code with a logo
The logo in the middle, with a scan check so you know it still works.
A QR code can survive part of itself being covered, which is why a logo in the middle works at all. How much it can survive depends on the error correction level, and most generators let you paste a logo over the pattern and hope. This one raises the error correction when a logo is added and then actually decodes the finished image, so you are told before you print whether the logo has gone too far.
How to make a QR code with a logo
- 1
Build the code first
Fill in the link, Wi-Fi or contact details. Shorter content leaves more room for the logo.
- 2
Add the logo
Upload a PNG or SVG. It is placed in the centre with a clear margin, and the error correction goes up to compensate.
- 3
Watch the scan check
The code is decoded from the rendered image. If it fails, shrink the logo or raise the contrast until it passes, then download.
Why the scan check is the whole point
A QR code that looks right and does not scan is discovered by a customer, at a table, in front of you. Decoding the finished image before download turns that into something you find out in two seconds instead.
Frequently asked questions
How big can the logo be?+
As a rule, keep it under about a fifth of the width. Beyond that even the highest error correction struggles. The scan check is the real answer for your specific code.
Can I use my brand colours?+
Yes, and the contrast is checked. Dark code on a light background is what scanners expect; the reverse often fails on older phones, and a pale code on white fails on all of them.
Why does the pattern get busier when I add a logo?+
Because the error correction level goes up, which adds redundancy so the covered part can be reconstructed. That is what makes the logo safe.
Is my logo uploaded?+
No. It is composited into the image in your browser.
