A doctor letterhead does more work than a company one. It has to carry the qualifications and the medical council registration number, because a prescription or a referral is only as good as the person who signed it. Why a clinic should not use an online designer
Anything with a patient name on it is medical data, and applying a letterhead to it on someone else’s server makes that server part of your practice. This runs in the browser, so referrals and reports never leave the clinic computer.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this for prescriptions?+
You can print the blank letterhead and write on it, which is how most clinics work. Whether a printed prescription is acceptable, and what it has to show, is set by your own medical council, so check that first.
Where do the degrees go?+
In the tagline field, which prints under the name in smaller type. That is the usual arrangement: Dr A. Sharma on the first line, MBBS, MD on the second.
Can I add a second doctor?+
Put both names in the name field separated by a comma, or use the footer line for the visiting consultant. For very different layouts, make two letterheads and save one on this device.
Are patient documents uploaded when I apply the letterhead?+
No. If you drop in a PDF to have the letterhead applied, it is processed in your browser and never sent anywhere. That matters for anything with a patient name on it.
